Citycot University Participates in Key Meeting Organized by the Puntland Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources

Citycot University took part in a high-level consultative meeting organized by the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources of Puntland. The meeting focused on the presentation of the ministry’s five-year strategic plan for the development of the fisheries sector, as well as policies aimed at protecting marine biodiversity and conserving endangered marine species.

The university was represented by a delegation of faculty members and students from the Faculty of Marine Science and Fisheries. Their participation reflected Citycot’s commitment to contributing to sustainable marine resource management and scientific policy-making in Puntland.

During the session, Citycot University representatives shared research-based insights and innovative recommendations to support the implementation of sustainable fishing practices, marine ecosystem protection, and the prevention of species extinction due to overfishing and environmental degradation. Their contributions highlighted the importance of integrating academic research with government-led development strategies.

The event brought together a wide range of stakeholders, including government officials, academic institutions, marine experts, local fishing communities, and representatives from non-governmental organizations (NGOs). This inclusive platform provided an opportunity for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and the strengthening of partnerships between academic institutions and government entities in the marine and fisheries sectors.

Citycot University reaffirmed its dedication to supporting national and regional development goals through academic excellence, research, and community engagement—particularly in fields vital to Puntland’s economic and environmental sustainability.
