Students from the Faculty of Marine Resources and Fisheries at Citycot University took part in a comprehensive hands-on training session today at the Bosaso coastline

focusing on “Fish Preservation and Handling.
This practical fieldwork is an integral component of the university’s curriculum aimed at equipping future marine professionals with real-world skills and sustainable fishing practices.
The session covered key areas such as:






- Proper fish handling techniques immediately after catch to prevent spoilage.
- Traditional and modern fish preservation methods including sun drying, smoking, chilling, and freezing.
- Hygienic practices during processing and packaging to ensure food safety and extend shelf life.
- Post-harvest loss reduction strategies to maximize economic value and reduce waste.
- Environmental considerations for preserving marine ecosystems while harvesting resources responsibly.
