On April 21, 2024, a training session on the Higher Education Management Information System (HEMIS) program took place in Mogadishu, Somalia. The program was attended by representatives from various universities, including CITYCOT University, and was organized and supervised by the Ministry of Education in Somalia. Engineer Cabdiwahab Cumar Siciid, Head of the Office of Education and Student Affairs, represented CITYCOT University at the training.

The main objective of the HEMIS program training was to familiarize participants with the HEMIS platform, which plays a crucial role in gathering, organizing, and evaluating data about postsecondary educational institutions. The training provided participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively utilize the HEMIS system for reporting, monitoring, and decision-making purposes.

At the beginning of the session, an introduction was given to outline the goals, features, and advantages of the HEMIS program for higher education institutions. The participants were made aware of how the HEMIS system can enhance data management and institutional planning in the education sector.

To ensure participants were well-versed in the functionalities of the HEMIS platform, hands-on workshops were conducted. These workshops enabled participants to learn how to utilize the system’s analytical capabilities, generate reports, and input data. Through practical exercises, participants became proficient in using the HEMIS interface and interpreting data effectively.

During the training, facilitators shared case studies and best practices that demonstrated the successful implementation of the HEMIS curriculum in various educational environments.
