The Puntland Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources, in collaboration with experts from Citycot University—particularly from the Marine Science and Fisheries Department and its laboratory—embarked on a field visit to the Mareero area. There, they investigated a mass stranding of dolphins.

The team, composed of marine scientists and researchers, is conducting investigations to determine the cause of the dolphin stranding. They collected samples from the carcasses of the dolphins, the seawater in the affected area, and the soil from the nearby shoreline where the stranding occurred. These analyses aim to uncover the factors behind this incident and provide insights for preventive measures.
