Position Overview
CITYCOT University is seeking an experienced and visionary leader to serve as the Dean of Health Sciences. The Dean will be responsible for overseeing all academic, administrative, and fiscal activities within the Health Sciences Faculty, which includes programs in [Nursing, Midwifery, Clinical officer, Pharmacy, Nutrition and food science, Clinical Laboratory, Agrovet, etc.]. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to academic excellence, research, community engagement, and the development of future health professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic direction and leadership for the Health Sciences Division, ensuring academic programs are innovative, of high quality, and aligned with the university’s mission and goals.
  • Train, retain, and develop a diverse and highly qualified faculty and staff. Foster a collaborative and inclusive environment that encourages professional growth and academic achievement.
  • Promote student success through high-quality teaching, advising, and support services. Enhance student recruitment, retention, and graduation rates within the health sciences programs.
  • Support and advance the research agenda of the division, encouraging faculty and students to engage in scholarly activities and securing external funding.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with healthcare providers, industry leaders, government agencies, and community organizations. Serve as the division’s primary representative in external relations.
  • Oversee the division’s budget, ensuring responsible allocation of resources. Pursue opportunities for fundraising and securing grants to support the division’s goals.
  • Ensure all health sciences programs meet accreditation standards and comply with state and federal regulations. Lead accreditation processes and maintain accreditation status for all relevant programs.
  • Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion within the division, promoting an environment where all students, faculty, and staff feel valued and supported.
  • Build and maintain relationships with alumni, industry leaders, and other stakeholders.
  • Promote departmental achievements and engage in outreach activities.
  • Organize events, such as lectures, workshops, and seminars, to foster a sense of community.
  • Oversee student Enrollment, retention, and success initiatives.
  • Ensure a supportive and engaging learning environment for students.
  • Address student concerns and grievances related to the department.
  • Promote student engagement in research, internships, and co-curricular activities and field training.
Qualifications:
  • Educational Background: Master’s degree in health science, etc.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2-5 years of progressively responsible experience in health science management, including at least 3 years in a leadership role, preferably in a higher education setting, with a proven track record of success in academic administration.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate faculty, staff, and students.
  • Research and Scholarship: A distinguished record of research, publications, and scholarly achievement in a health-related field.
  • Commitment to Excellence: Demonstrated commitment to academic excellence, student success, and continuous improvement.
  • Diversity and Inclusion: Proven ability to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives within an academic setting.
Working Conditions:
  • Primarily office-based with occasional travel to different campuses or external meetings.
  • May require occasional evening or weekend work to oversee critical health science operations or emergencies.
